I once knew someone who claimed he'd seen a large creature - a sort of spider with bat wings, if memory serves (this was about 15 years ago) - hovering above one of the ponds late at night. He swore it was true and, despite him being a habitual criminal and regular pill-popper, who was I to disbelieve him? Strange things happen where the city meets the forest.John H.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7238561.post-80364351776717811332008-04-23T21:18:00.000+01:002008-04-23T21:18:00.000+01:00Many thanks for your comment. Whenever I see a sign for either the A40 or <BR/>M40, as I did the other day on Wood Lane, I get a strong pang for 'home'.Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08440524257138574864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7238561.post-70724929559564243262008-04-21T14:40:00.000+01:002008-04-21T14:40:00.000+01:00When I waa a kid (I mean upto about age 13) all ar...When I waa a kid (I mean upto about age 13) all arterial roads were the North Circular. Coming out at the top of Mill Hill Broadway I'd see the cars zip past and it was; There's the North Circ. Actually it was the A41(T)but not to me. Likewise all brooks were the Dollis, whether they ran through West Finchley, cut beneath the Finchley Road at Henley's Corner, or flowed below the grand viaduct close by South Harrow. Of course, the last two were the Mutton Brook and the Roxbourne respectively. I think your site is great.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
